I have things to say, but not enough space on Facebook to say them.
First of all, I got paid. I don’t know how that happened. I was shocked to see the Direct Deposit notification in my email. Then I remembered I worked, like, two nights in the last week of school. Looks like I finally got the money for the work I did over a month ago! Of course, it will all have to go to paying for the mystery charge on my BARC. It says it’s for Student Health, but I didn’t go to Student Health in January. I was in England. Someone gets to send an email to the financial office at UCSB, and I’m not looking forward to it. I have enough things to worry about.
One of these things is my English paper. I did get a two minute conversation with my tutor about it, and he said not to worry too much about outside sources. That is wonderful, because I hate doing research. And who knows, maybe the critical essays about Sidney I do find will help me make sense of his crazy Apology for Poetry. And maybe they’ll give me a better argument than the one I have. I need a better poem, really. And I need to reread the Apology for Poetry because I still don’t understand what it’s going on about. Plus, it’s my tutor’s first time teaching in England so he’s pretty much on the same page I am. I get to go figure things out with him after the paper is done. Maybe he can tell me what I’m doing wrong! Good job the first papers aren’t graded...
And now I’m starving, since I missed breakfast due to running around printing things. I hate not having my own printer. Even though my printer wants to murder me in my sleep, I’d still rather use him than have to sit and wait for the arduously slow printer here. Plus, I could print things from the comfort of my room if my printer was here. And while it’s not exactly a long walk to the IT Study Room, I still wouldn’t want to go there when it’s 5am when I finish my paper.
I did get my accommodations paid off though! Or at least the first round of payment. I had issues with the online payment and because my card has a withdrawal limit that I didn’t know about, but I got it all figured out. I’ll just have to make payments earlier next time. And I found out why it was cheaper than I expected. I guess when I made £200 deposit, I paid too much money. Stupid conversions. But then it all worked out! Yay!
I still can’t figure out how I accidentally paid too much money, by the way. I swear I just put a £200 charge on my credit card and paid it off later. Unless I did something really dumb and put the dollar amount I was paying into the online payment site instead of the GBP amount. Actually, that’s probably what happened. I am an idiot.
I bought myself three posters yesterday to decorate my room with, because my room is sad and undecorated. I have no idea how I’m going to get them home in one piece. The posters are “Everything I Need to Know I Learned from Monty Python,” a rail map of the British Underground, and the Van Gogh painting from Doctor Who. I thought about getting the Communist Party one, because who doesn’t love that pun, but I went for Monty Python instead. For one thing, Monty Python is more English. For another, I’d rather have a Communist Party T-shirt. I’m hilarious like that.
I feel like taking an hour-long nap before class starts. Good plan.
You are awesome!
